Last year, Transform – For the future of energy organized their first three-day “Driedaagse Deepdive Decentraal” event which was entirely dedicated to exploring the intersection between spatial challenges (housing, work, and transportation) and energy systems. Over the course of 2.5 days, more than 150 people worked together to formulate ambitions and solution pathways for decentralized energy for living, working, and transportation.

The 9 solution pathways that emerged from that first edition of the Deepdive Decentralized are still proving to be highly relevant. This year, we are therefore building on those nine solution pathways and on the 2026 Transform action research. In it, we call for “Do, scale, and learn simultaneously.” To do that, we must stop applying Band-Aid solutions and make a number of fundamental adjustments under the hood of the energy system to make decentralized solutions scalable.
